Troia Golf Championship Course is a spectacular links, and one of the most fascinating golf challenges in Portugal. The magazine Golf World elected in 2003, as the 25th best European Golf Course. The usual approach to the golf course is straight over the Estuary of the Sado River - a pleasant short ferry ride from Setubal to the Peninsula of Troia, a region of great natural beauty near the Atlantic Ocean.|The greens are small with naturally shaped defensive bunkers and hummocks, while the fairways are narrow and hemmed in by sandy dunes and pine trees, providing a genuine test of skill for the lowers handicap golfers together with enjoyment for the more modest players.|The front nine has a run of beautiful sea holes. Troia Golf Championship Course offers you a comfortable and welcoming Clubhouse, constructed in a rustic style, with a set of first class facilities services: golf reception, pro-shop, bar, restaurant and a large balcony to the 18th Green and also a excellent Driving Range with two putting-greens and one chipping and bunker practice area.

Driving range, practice greens are of bad quality. The bunkers on the golf have too much sand. All balls are plugged. The test of the golf course is okay

friendly staff. The infrastructure seems to be in the same condition as it was on our last visit 7 years ago, e.g. paths, parking, etc. The golf itselfs convinces with an interesting layout.

We love Troia and whenever we are in Portugal we endeavour to play it. Downside of this trip was that there was no heating in the Clubhouse on what was a chilly December day and no hot water for a shower afterwards.

Very disappointed by the state of maintenance on the course. Such a marvelous design but sadly everything (course, restaurant and club house) is run down and neglected somewhat. The practice area is just a field and the balls are very old and used up. It has definitely seen better days.

Fine course, narrow fairways, some areas not that well maintained.

Nice trip by boat to Troia. The reception was good but unfortunately the buggies were overbooked.
The staff in the clubhouse clearly didn’t feel like it and made this very clear.
The practice facilities are really embarrassing………
Troia golfcourse is absolutely not recommended, for that money you would be better off playing another course in this area.

Troia is one of my favourite Portuguese golf course and always try to play this course when we are visiting Portugal. Unfortunately our experience was impacted by the maintenance they had done on some of the Greens, which had been hollow tined and sanded. In some cases there was quite a bit of sand which had small stones which affected putting. There was no warning that this work had been undertaken and no offer of a discount on the green fee. What was a little strange was that the work was done randomly so you did not know what the condition of the green would be from hole to hole. Still a lovely place to play golf and will go back. Please next time be a little more considerate to your golfing guests

Golfcourse was in good shape, except the maintenance of the contour of the bunkers which could be better. This was our second visit and we have the impression that the course is not much played because we started at noon and we were the last flight of the day. The reception at the entrance desk was ok but no more than that. Hole 19 was below average: kitchen already closed at 5pm on a Sunday and a waitress who came to say on the doorstep that orders only were taken at the counter ... we were the only visitors there ...

Many years since last played but enjoyed just as much. Some areas need tidying as looks scruffy, greens as difficult to read as ever. Great course.

Played many times before, one of our group favourites, and always a serious challenge that's especially tough when windy & wet! To enjoy feel players need to be under 15 handicap and pretty straight off the tee, as so much sandy waste that's so difficult to escape. Well worth the ferry trip across from Setubal [a much more interesting town than at first glance].

We played this course twice during our golf trip. There is some damage from wild boar activity, particularly on the practice ground. Fortunately, the main playing areas were unaffected, and were generally in good condition. The greens were excellent - quick and consistent. This remains one of my favourite golf courses. It is a good test of golf for anyone and offers an experience unlike many other in Portugal. The ferry trip from Setubal makes the day!
